Would be great to get a little discussion going on the board about this week's BSM heats and final. IMHO, it was a pretty weak heat, but looking forward to watching big Eddie compete tonight. That Brian Turner is quite a decent strongman. I was gutted for him that he could only get 2 stones up. Would have been nice to see him qualify along with Bill Pittuck. My favourite event was the deadlift one. Got to hand it to Jamie Reeves on his creativity on that one. It was a good blend of brute strength and endurance/ reps. I think there should b more events like that in strongman overall. The farmer's yoke looked almost impossible! I remember Turner mentioning that he handled the 375kg yoke at SSM easily enough, and underestimated how much the yoke used in the BSM heats would sway so much! Mr D1ckenson's commentary was amusing as usual Looking forward to it tonight! Taping all of the heats and the final onto a brand new tape for future entertainment.

I thought Bill Pittock did a great job..........superb for a real veteran. When did he tear the right bicep? Looks like it could be a great comp.......new deadlift was great....what was the starting weight for it?

Ok Darren, you have in my opinion worked on the fitness to an extreme! How about training using a lactic acid thresh-hold increase? i d'ont know, all i know is that there is alot more to strongman training than just bodybuilding training, incorporating regular cv work and event training! I know when you work full time and try to train like a semi-pro, try to eat every two hours, try to get the 8 hours sleep and try to stay positive all year round and then get treated like an amateur at certain big televised shows, with the prize money at these big shows so small and the following so big, in my opinion i think that a certain person has a lot of questions to answer! Look at the Arnold classic people!!!!
Bringing the "WSM" to these hot countries makes my blood boil. How are you to perform at top level when all the minerals and water is gone out through your pores after just the first day there? Within the next ten years i feel this sport will have many many more athletes competing!! the reason is simple! A respect for the athletes will come about sooner or later. bigger prizes and bigger glamour are on the way.

Yeah, theres no doubt that Gregor can move with reasonably decent weight, but hes still weak in the static events....the deadlift was a bit poor.......still the game seems to be strenth athletics now and that is what we should aim for?

Stumpy and Gosling this evening.
Last night's heat was the best so far IMHO.
Darren Sadler is one to look out for. Only 23 years old and 17 and a half stone. I was gutted for him when he just barely missed the fifth stone.
Edmunds certainly is disappointing in the static events, but he is one incredible strength athlete. Paul thingyenson says that Gregor might be converting to rugby union this year or the next and quitting strongman altogether. Disastrous for Scotland if he did.
Big Ade was entertaining to watch aswell. His battles with Edmunds on the stones and anchor pull were outstanding.
