all i want to do is help others in this sport, all along i want to use our conucil to unite everbody in the UK to help the novice athletes get competitions. With principal to feed ifsa new athletes, at the moment there is no interest from ifsa in these athletes.

just a point for wee man, IFSA is not offically recognised as an goberning body by the government or the national sports authority.

Ifsa should be behind the athletes not the other way round.

If the IFSA wants to get involved they are more than welcome I am sure. Bob you are on the right path you may only have 4 members for the council but things have to start somewhere, I feel that dates and weights should be set and let the council begin. The shows are what will get the council rolling and a start needs to be made. The members need to set targets, weights and dates as long as the standards are set it will lead to credability. Put on the shows, show them that you all are to be taken seriously.

re, ANONs' points, when i stated that IFSA was THE world governing body for strength athletics,it was in the context that all strength athletes want to compete in IFSA sanctioned events the world over.in this country all strength athletes want to compete in the IFSA sanctioned BRITAINS STRONGEST MAN competition and more so,both here and abroad, all strength athletes want to compete in the IFSA sanctioned WORLDS STRONGEST MAN competition. YOU may recall a few years ago a WORLDS STRONGEST MAN competitor,MR. MANFRED HOBROEL was of the same opinion of that of MR. BOB DALGLEISH and that he could do better to further promote the world of strength athletics and give all strength athletes the due recognition that they wholy deserved,in endeavouring to acheive this he set up a body titled AFSA, a few of the worlds strongest men at the time sided with MR. MANFRED HOBROEL to compete in AFSA sanctioned events, but ,when IFSA informed them that they would be ,for ever more, excluded from competing in IFSA sanctioned events, they almost immediately returned to IFSA leaving MR. MANFRED HOBROEL and his AFSA dream high and dry. Some of those athletes are still competing at the highest level with IFSA today, all said and done , they realised that the grass wasn't greener. Re. MR. BOB DALGLEISHs' point that IFSA don't promote NOVICE strength athletics, please correct me if i'm wrong, but, the BLAIR ATHOLL HIGHLAND GAMES and STRONGMAN competition is an IFSA sanctioned event and the strongman competition is open to all NOVICE strength athletes, albeit, in recent years there have been BRITAINS STRONGEST MAN competitors amongst those competing in it ,but, the winners' trophy is presented to the highest placing NOVICE competitor,NOVICES' from as far afield as the south of England have travelled to the highlands of Scotland to compete in this NOVICE competition. Re. COWGIRLs' point, i'm sure IFSA are behind all strength athletes , striving to promote all aspects of strength athletics for both MALE and FEMALE competitors. IFSA have brought FEMALE strength competition to the fore over recent years, evolving from the GLAMAZONs' competition to the current IFSA sanctioned WORLDS STRONGEST WOMAN competition. In general, the grass always looks greener on the other side of the fence, but, once crossed it never appears that way. MR.BOB DALGLEISH and his sympathisers should be striving to make IFSA , THE governing body for strength athletics, recognised by THE government of the country and THE sports council and all governments and sports councils the world over instead of trying to cause a divide within our sport . Re, GHBs' point, that is what MR. MANFRED HOBROEL thought.

Wee man with a wee mind, from what you have said it is not the fact that the grass isn't greener you are claiming that the IFSA is so unfair as to totally exclude anyone who doesn't want to be in there gang. I doubt very much that a professionally run body would act so petty and if any such body did act in such a way then isn't it about time that a totally fair and unbiased council was set up.
From the way you write you sound very much like a troubled bloke calling himself Steak, if this is you which I belive it is then you are still not playing with the truth let alone a sound mind.

re. COWGIRLs' point,i have been posting messages on this thread and the YES or NO thread solely as "wee man" and can assure you i'm far from troubled and am of sound mind. If you have been reading my postings properly, you will have gathered that i'm not against the sport of strength athletics having a governing body to represent it ,but, that i am of the mind that IFSA should be that body and not some splinter group. IFSA is already well established, the infra structure is there,a council could be made up with the current IFSA regional repesentatives with further representation coming from sub committees of each region, therefor no need to splinter away. MR. BOB DAGLEISH started the thread, but, has he actually approached IFSA re.a council? YESor NO

weeman, i did not start this, but i would be happy to talk with ifsa. all i wanted is to help athletes get better and this sport to get better. as i said in the pass we could be used by ifsa as a farming ground to feed then new athletes is that not good for our sport. weeman i don't do failuer

Wee man,
for someone that is all for IFSA you have given us the best argument so far against them. According to you, IFSA told all athletes that if they entered AFSA events they would forever be banned from IFSA competitions.
Now do you think that that gangster attitude is the best way to promote and further the sport?
Everybody is entitled to their own opinion wee man. If you want to get behind IFSA.......................SEND THEM YOUR CHEQUE!

Re. DARREN's point,i already do send my cheque to IFSA, also in reference to the gangster attitude, there have been many other sporting bodies that have done the same thing in the U.K. To the best of my knowledge,IFSA made that remark once and once only when MR.MANFRED HOBROEL tried in setting up AFSA. They have not voiced that remark/ultimatum to any other parties since.I reckon the reason for this,is that they realised ,once that remark was made,it was perceived as a form of bullying. AFSA (MR.MANFRED HOBROEL) assured all strength athletes that they would get the due recognition they deserved and that the sport of strength athletics would excel at all levels,if the strength athletes who sided with MR. MANFRED HOBROEL,truly believed that this was the future and path to follow to ensure recognition for the sport of strength athletics the world over why then , did they almost immediately return to IFSA when IFSA made the remark, leaving MR. MANFRED HOBROEL and AFSA high and dry? Re. MR.BOB DAGLISH's last remark,i stand corrected if you are saying you did not start this thread, but, the way you remarked in your last posting,it appears that you have not even approached IFSA with reference to a proposed council/governing body and sat down at the table with your opinions. As already remarked in my earlier postings,i am not against there being a governing body and what MR. BOB DAGLISH is striving for is positive, but, it's my opinion that MR. BOB DAGLISH should have ,in the first instance, approached IFSA and discussed his veiws with them rather than airing them on an open forum, which has now left MR. BOB DAGLISH in a predicament,if he goes ahead with a splinter committee/council is he going to get the full backing of strength athletes of all levels,NOVICE to PROFFESIONAL,or will he be left in the same situation as MR. MANFRED HOBROEL was when strength athletes turned their back on AFSA, when at first they were showing him their allegiance.

Re.KEN's point,as for as not listening properly to what is being put forward, that must go to you and i both. MR. BOB DAGLISHs' proposed council, like MR. MANFRED HOBROELs' AFSA, is the same principle, but,on a smaller scale,i agree ,MR . BOB DAGLISH is wanting to further the sport of strength athletics for all levels in the U.K.,more specifically at the NOVICE level. His reasoning for this is because he feels IFSA aren't giving proper consideration for athletes at the level ,but ,if MR. BOB DAGLISH was putting the NOVICE athlete to the fore,do you not agree that he should have approached IFSA first with his proposal and only then,if the door was slammed in his face, aired his proposal on an open forum to gauge if the support was there.
