We need isfa for the worlds. but we could be used as a feeding base for isfa new athletes. YES they do need new blood. what we need now is for somone to say right lets get this going. I am will to give my time free for the right people to help make this sport better, its time to act. Because weigthlifting, powerlifting and bodybuilding are falling behind the times PLEASE don't let this sport go the same way. PHIL ARE YOU THE MAN TO GET THIS GOING you got the contacts. on your marks, get set, GO

Yeah thats a fair comment Ken and I respect your opinion.
But you haven't thought about why that is the situation. You have only stated the facts as they are at the present time. If everyone thought like that no-one would ever try and change the situation. What would have happend if a young Richard Branson thought about buying his first record shop. Then decided he couldn't be arsed because someone up the road already had a record shop.
Are you honestly happy with the way IFSA promote the sport in this country? That's right......................they don't!
This is a purely theoretical idea but here goes:
One day a man or woman has an idea to set up a new strength association as he's not happy about the current choice of associations he has to join.
He let's other people here his idea and finds out that lot's of people are interested. A lot more than he expected. He gets so much interest and puts on such a good quality show that the spectators and athletes at that show tell all there freinds.
He get's so much praise that he decide's to put on another show but this time, because he could be arsed with promoting the sport, he discovers that there are far more followers than he could ever have imagined. The show is a fantastic success. Every show gets bigger and better and some of the biggest names in the country start to here what's going on.
As his first love is strength athletics and not money, any money he gets from shows he ploughs back into the sport and sets up even bigger shows with large cash prizes.
Eventually it gets so big that he is able to offer contracts to top names so that they can concentrate on their sport and do not have the worries of work. At first the contract's are not big but because the sport has been promoted properly the athletes also have sponsorship from the likes of Met-rx, Prolab, Nike and Adidas.
TV execs here whats going on and decide that they can use this as more than just a filler between the news and Eastenders twice a year.
Some of the world's top names and even the world's strongest man here what's going on and decide that they want in on the action. The contract's are larger now than they are earning with their current federation. The rest as they say could be history!
But why bother when we already have IFSA and they do all they can to promote the sport.....................yeah and monkey's might fly outa my butt!

Darren i applaud you very well put, i have sat back and read all this with interest how would it work?. It would have to have regonal branches and a central body to oversee the reigons. On an other subject i am thinking of puting on a small show next year end of May, it will be a charity show for Multiple Sclerosis as my partner suffers from this complaint. Any help advice greatfully welcome...

you may have alot on plate already phil, your input would be appreciated.where you could start i don't know, but somewhere would be good. just remembered phil may not be posting at mo,cause he may be moving house about now. heres another idea. 68 countys in enland, scotland, wales.my area, put kent.london, surrey and sussex together as one region.somebody else can work out the rest.do show.top 5, then meet the next closes region/s and so on.on the basis of 16 regions and 5 go through.the next show has 20 competitors ,from 4 regions.so 4 shows around the same time.top 5 guys go through to final, which is 20 guys left.or have i just put the problem back to square 1.as in lots of novices still not having a chance to progress slowly? any way it could be a good battle, where all meet in the middle. that my input and my heads hirts working it out.speak sunday all good by ken

Hello Big Len, yeah the job's going great cheers. I'll try and pop down the Pub next week and tell you all about it. Can't say much on here now that i've signed the 'act' and all that.
Count me in with your show Steve. I've got a friend with MS and I know what a terrible illness it is. I'de be glad to help out even if it's just a bit of spotting or lumping gear about. Me and lennie did the spotting at Phils Allhallows Open. I'm about the same level as Big Len so can only do the novice (but lennies much better looking than me!)
Regards to all,
Darren.

To get as many competitors as possible my regions would be, North east, North west, Yorkshire, London, Midlands, South east, south west, Norfolk (Anglia), Wales, Irland, and Scotland in two parts of lower and highlands. stage 1 This give us 12 regions these regions could have heats than a final if needed with the top 3 in each region going forward. stage 2 highlands and lower Scotland, North East, North West, Yorkshire and Irland 18 competitors Wales, London, Midlands, Norfolk, South East and South West 18 competitors top 6 from stage 2 going forwad to a British Final of 12 athletes. More comps or shows, more athletes WILL THIS NOT BE BETTER FOR OUR SPORT
